Youth and Leisure Supervisor

The Youth & Leisure Program Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and supervision of tot, youth, teen, adult and family programming, day camp, preschool, before and after school care, trips and activities to meet the needs of the community. Accountable for profit and loss of designated area.
Responsibilities & Duties
Supervise the programming of various recreation programs as directed including preschool, day camp and before and after school program working in conjunction with the school district at four remote sites. Direct supervision of recreation personnel including program instructors, preschool teachers, day camp counselors, before and after school care staff, district employees, independent contractors and volunteers. Prepare cost analysis budgeting of programs, activities and events. Prepare reports, statistics and evaluations of recreation based programs. Lead and/or teach various recreation programs and activities if/when necessary. Implement and supervise purchasing in accordance with district policies and procedures, maintaining adequate inventory for program operation. Monitor program participation and take corrective action for both low enrollment and waiting lists. Monitor financial results, reporting any deviations. Coordinate program development and operation including field trips and events. Monitor status and condition of programs and locations of programs. Evaluate staffing needs including recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation and make adjustments within the department to insure programs operate efficiently and create an environment for success. Assist in interpreting resident needs and delivering programs and services to meet those needs. Promote, organize and stimulate good relationships with community and other interest groups and other agencies serving the area. Prepare accurate and appropriate program and facility information for seasonal brochures and other miscellaneous public information. Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
B.A. or B.S. degree in recreation administration, education, physical education or closely related field. Two years full time experience preferred or any equivalent experience of professional knowledge, education, supervision and/or training which provides the required abilities to fulfill the position. Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred, along with a record of continuing education and/or participation in recreation associations is desirable. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
$35,000 – $ 48,000
Monday through Friday, with occassional evenings and weekend hours as necessary to produce exceptional results. It is essential to be regularly available during standard business hours to meet with staff, vendors and other business and government agencies.
