Centennial Park Renovation
November 24, 2025: Construction of the pavilion in between the baseball fields has been completed, and the crew has been working on the stone work inside the playground.
November 17, 2025: The swings have been installed, and the asphalt pathway from the parking lot to the courts area was laid.
November 13, 2025: A concrete pad and shade structure were installed by the courts area. A new shelter is being built in between the ballfields.
November 6, 2025: The top layer of Pour In Place surfacing has been laid, and accessible concrete pathways have been poured. New dugout benches have been installed.
November 3, 2025: Pour In Place surfacing is being applied to the base layer of the Centennial Park playground.
October 30, 2025: The first layer of Pour in Place surfacing is laid in parts of the playground area.
October 27, 2025: Shade structures have been installed over the dugouts in the three ballfields. Turf has been laid in the outdoor fitness area and in a section of the playground area.
October 23, 2025: Asphalt was poured on the ADA compliant ramp leading to the slides, and crews continue to work on installing turf in the new outdoor fitness area, as well as the swing set area of the playground. The exterior fencing around the perimeter of the courts area was completed, as well as fencing in between the pickleball courts. Net posts have also been installed on the pickleball and tennis courts.
October 21, 2025: Work began on repairing the foot bridge connecting the parking lot to the pathway out to the ballfields.
October 20, 2025: Futsal, Tennis and Pickleball Courts have been striped.
October 17, 2025: The Futsal, Tennis and Pickleball courts have been painted.
October 15, 2025: The playground area is prepped for new surfacing.
October 10, 2025: Work crews began the process of applying an acrylic coating to what will be the new tennis court, futsal court and pickleball courts (4).
October 9, 2025: Shades were installed over the new playground structures. Below are different views.
October 6, 2025: Playground equipment continues to be assemble, and fencing continues to be put up in the area that will house the planned tennis court, futsal court and pickleball courts.
October 1, 2025: Playground equipment continues to be assembled, and all of the fence posts around the planned tennis court, futsal court and pickleball courts have been installed.
September 26, 2025: Workers continued to assemble playground equipment. Around half of the fence posts were installed for the new tennis, futsal and pickleball courts. The “Centennial Community Store” looks like a lot of fun!
September 25, 2025: Outdoor Fitness Equipment has been installed. Playground equipment continues to be installed. Holes for the fence posts have been drilled into the ground, and asphalt has been poured for pathways to the ballfields. 
September 22, 2025: Prep work for the laying of asphalt on the pathway to the ballfields has been done; playground equipment is being installed, and the asphalt for the new tennis, pickleball, futsal courts is being marked for fence posts.
September 17, 2025: Work on pathways leading to the ballfields is being done to lay new asphalt. New asphalt was poured leading to the area where the new pickleball courts (4), tennis court and futsal court will be located. New playground equipment is also being installed.
September 11, 2025: Concrete pads and asphalt have been installed under the pavilion, on the playground and on pathways. Playground and outdoor fitness equipment was delivered and is being installed. The asphalt foundation for 4 new pickleball courts, a tennis court and futsal court has been laid.
September 5, 2025: The foundations have been laid for the new all inclusive playground, 4 new pickleball courts, a tennis court and futsal court. The enclosure for the trash receptacles has been built.
August 17, 2025: The Centennial Park Renovation Project continues to progress with the installation of underground pipes beneath the area that will host the new all-inclusive playground, pickleball courts, tennis court, and futsal court. Concrete was laid for the trash receptables, and accessible foot path.
July 18, 2025: Demolition of the tennis courts and playground has been completed.
July 16, 2025: Demolition of the tennis courts and the playground is almost completed.
July 15, 2025: Addison Park District Executive Director Rob Bond and our Board of Commissioners (left to right) Frank Angiulo (Vice President), Stacey Ruffolo (Commissioner), Dean Stathopoulos (Treasurer) Michael Capizzano (President), and Superintendent of Recreation and Revenue Facilities Mike Contreras participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Centennial Park renovation project.
July 7, 2025: Fencing is installed around the playground and tennis courts at Centennial Park. The scope of the project includes an inclusive playground, for kids of all abilities, new fitness stations, updated shade structures, new rain garden, updated tennis court and the addition of a new futsal court, and 4 outdoor pickleball courts. This project is partially funded by an OSLAD grant and is expected to be completed in the late fall of 2025. To view the plans, please see the renderings below.
Community Park Renovation (plans at the bottom of this page)
August 15, 2025: The construction zone fencing is removed, and Community Park opens, along with the Splash Pad, complete with new lawn furniture. Pickleball nets and the sand volleyball net have also been installed and are ready for play.
August 14, 2025: All of the grass seed has been laid and the basketball, pickleball and futsal courts have been painted.
August 8, 2025: Progress continues on the redevelopment of Community Park. Park benches and seating have been installed, as well as the basketball hoops.
August 6, 2025: Installation of the fencing inside the pickleball courts, the pavilion, and the shade structure have been completed.
August 1, 2025: Fencing around the futsal and pickleball courts has been put up, additional trees have been planted, and the new pavilion is being built.
July 24, 2025: Grass seeds have been laid down and additional trees have been planted.
July 22, 2025: Over the past few days, additional flowers, tall grass and trees have been planted.
July 18, 2025: Soil has been laid and bushes and flowers have been planted.
Fence posts and sand have been laid for the futsal and volleyball courts.
July 8, 2025: Asphalt for the pickleball, basketball and futsal courts has been laid.
July 1, 2025: The concrete entryway into the park has been laid.
June 17, 2025: Concrete pathways have been laid.
June 6, 2025: Preparations are being made to lay concrete for accessible pathways.
April 10, 2025: Work has resumed on the redevelopment of Community Park. When completed in the fall, the park will include 4 new outdoor pickleball courts, 2 enhanced half-court basketball courts, a full-sized futsal court, enhanced volleyball court, new small soccer field, updated walking path access, additional seating and a pavilion, making it a great family gathering space. The Splash Pad is CLOSED to start the season due to the renovation project. We hope to complete the construction by the middle of the summer and will open the Splash Pad as soon as it safe to do so. Please check back later in the summer as we will update information as details regarding its re-opening are able to be set more specifically.
