Centennial Recreation Center New Roof Installation

Friday, July 19, 2024: ALL of Club Fitness and Centennial Gymnasium with the basketball court will be shut down through Sunday, July 21, 2024. We will reopen Monday, July 22, 2024.

July 15, 2024: weather permitting, the roofers will begin working on the roof over the Centennial Gymnasium (with the basketball court) the following days, which will affect some pickleball and open gym basketball programming:

• Friday, July 12, 2024
• Saturday, July 13, 2024
• Monday, July 15, 2024
• Tuesday, July 16, 2024

The basketball courts will NOT need to be shut down the entire day, just during the roof removal process. Therefore, for each of the days listed above, the gym (with the basketball court) will need to be shut down from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Saturday’s Basketball Open Gym will run from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., and Tuesday’s Pickleball Open Gym will run between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

July 11, 2024: Club Fitness: on the Fitness Floor at Club Fitness, about half of the equipment is closed (we will make an announcement on the Club Fitness facebook page once this area re-opens.) The outside lane of the track is open for walkers.

July 8, 2024

Only half of the basketball gym remains open as work continues on the roof on the other half of the gym.

July 3, 2024

A portion of the fitness floor walking track at Club Fitness and some of the equipment (squat racks and Smith machine) have been closed as work resumes on the roofing project. As soon as these areas re-open, we will post it here and on the facebook Club Fitness page.  The area has been re-opened.

June 20, 2024

Centennial Gym (with the Basketball Court) will be closed until July 1, as work on the roof above the gym is being conducted.  When the gym re-opens on July 1, only have of the gym will be open.

To the Community of Addison,

The Addison Park District is excited to announce our $1.5 million facility improvement project for Centennial Recreation Center, 1776 W. Centennial Place, will begin on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Centennial Recreation Center is home to Club Fitness, our indoor pool, Centennial Gym, NEDSRA, and Athletico.
The project’s scope of work includes a new roof, water damage repairs, and preparations to install the park district’s first ever air conditioning unit at Centennial Gym, making the gym comfortable and accessible during the summer months, which will greatly benefit the community. This project is expected to take approximately 2 months and involves: demolition of the existing roof, installation of a new roof, repair of water damage, painting, sealing, prepping for the air conditioning unit, electrical and plumbing work, etc.
Staff had a kick-off meeting with the contractor this morning, Friday, May 31, and we learned the contractor is requiring us to close portions of the facility during this renovation project for the safety of our staff and patrons.
The first closure will be the pool, which will begin on Tuesday, June 4th, and we anticipate it will be closed for 2 months, while the contractor fixes and repairs the internal water damage in the pool area. If we are able to open it earlier, we will make an announcement. With the closure of the pool, there will be no group aquatic classes, swim lessons, or open swim during this time. We sincerely apologize, as it is never our desire to cancel programs or close facilities. We are currently researching other opportunities to run these programs during the closure.
As we receive updated closure information from the contractor, we will announce these temporary closures and updates in the following ways:

* On the website at addisonparks.org/projects
* Social Media on the Club Fitness Facebook page
* Signage inside the building

Lastly, please be patient with this process. Our staff is here to help answer questions but may not have all of the answers since we are in the beginning stages of this project.
